INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. — Dozens of people came out to Indian Trail Saturday for a “Defend the Blue” rally and 9/11 memorial event.

The rally was organized by Back the Blue NC in an effort to raise awareness for law enforcement.

Representative Dan Bishop and Senator Thom Tillis were there to show their support and encourage voters to pick candidates who back the police in November.

“I call on all of us to speak for this nation in 52 days. Make clear that everyone on your ballot from president to governor, must back the blue," Bishop said.

Tillis also said, “Find out about candidates who want to defund the police. seek out, speak out for candidates who support you unequivocally. And speak out against those who don’t. Whether they’re a Democrat or a Republican, it doesn’t matter."

Since the rally was one day after the anniversary of 9/11, the also too time to honor law enforcement who died on that day 19 years ago.
